In His Own Words: DQ Rogers on Life, Music, and TARE
By WestHipHopMag•

WestHipHopMag: What first inspired you to make music?
DQ Rogers: Honestly, DJ Unk’s “Walk It Out.” I don’t even know why, but that beat just made me feel like I could make a song too. Something about it connected with me.
WestHipHopMag: When did you start taking your music seriously?
DQ Rogers: Around 2015. Before that I was just making stuff for fun, not really using original beats. But around that time I got serious, started locking in for real.
WestHipHopMag: How do you stay motivated as an artist?
DQ Rogers: Just by living life. Going out, seeing new things, having new experiences. That’s what gives me new things to talk about. My music really comes from my lifestyle.
WestHipHopMag: Tell us about your upcoming project, TARE.
DQ Rogers: It’s all produced by my homie thesmoothcat. His sound was totally different from mine, but we connect on mad levels with music. We was trying new sounds on this one but still keeping it me. It drops 11/11, so that’s something to look out for.
WestHipHopMag: You’ve worked with some known artists too, right?
DQ Rogers: Yeah, I’d say my biggest collab so far was A$AP Ant. Bro’s a real living legend fr. I did stuff with other known artists too, but Ant prolly the most known.
WestHipHopMag: What’s next for you after TARE?
DQ Rogers: More growth, more life, more music. Just keep evolving, keep living, and keep creating from that.
